Top 10 Wedding Planning Trends

By Editorial Staff

wedding trendsContributed by Info Guru Paul Seaburn

Every bride wants her wedding day to be special and memorable, just like every groom wants it to be a date he can remember when anniversaries come around.

Wedding trends are as numerous as there are bridesmaid dresses and can be just as wild or traditional. If you’re getting ready for a wedding, whether your boyfriend knows it or not, check out the latest in wedding planning trends.

10. Table For Two

table for two

With bridal parties getting larger, the long head table can stretch out the door. That’s why many couples are opting for a romantic sweetheart table for just the bride and groom. An alternative is a large round table so the bridal party members can socialize.

9. Have Your Cake And Eat A Donut Too

cake pops

Does anyone actually eat wedding cake anymore? Many caterers are offering trendy treats to go with after-dinner coffee, like donut pops and cake pops. They’re tasty, fun and won’t end up being smeared all over the bride or groom’s face.

8. The Never-Ending Reception

never ending reception

If you don’t want your wedding day dancing and partying to end once the reception hall closes, consider moving the party and guests to a hotel bar, a night spot or even a karaoke club. Order a custom dance floor decal with your names and big date to claim a piece of the venue (with the manager’s permission, of course!) Make sure there’s plenty of limos, designated drivers or nearby hotel rooms and celebrate until dawn.

7. Shoe Be Doo Be Doo

You’re going to be on your feet for hours, so be comfortable and trendy at the same time by outfitting the wedding party in matching wild-colored tennis shoes. Everyone will have fun at the reception and thank you in the morning when their feet don’t hurt.

6. Something Borrowed, Something Booth

Photo booths at the reception have been trendy for a while, so make yours memorable by providing guests with some props and costumes. Better yet, upgrade to the new video booths were they can record messages that will be edited into a fun wedding video.

5. Back To Nature Bouquets

back to nature bouquets

Formal bouquets are so … formal. And since many of the traditional wedding flowers are flown in from far away, they’re also hard on the earth. Many florists are now offering natural flower arrangements for bouquets and altars that look like they were just picked from the garden next to the church. Don’t get any ideas – churches frown on stealing flowers!

Or even better — if the season permits, plant your own flower cutting garden when you get engaged and grow the flowers you love for bouquets and table arrangements. It’s a greener (and less costly) choice than buying from a flower shop.

4. Reality Show Photography

reality show

You don’t have to be a Kardashian to have your wedding pictures look like they were taken by paparazzi. Forget those old wedding photography poses – photographers and videographers are offering reality-style photo books and videos that will make you feel like you’re there long after you’ve left.

3. Brew Haha

Since most of the guests will be visiting the bar at some point, make the trip memorable by offering some alternatives to the standard beer, wines and mixed drinks. Microbreweries and local wineries can provide local beers and wines, while an experienced mixologist can whip up the latest in trendy mixed drinks.

2. Pull Up A Truck

truck

Food trucks and vendors are offering everything from designer Bavarian knackwurst, to hot dogs to gourmet dinners and wedding planners are jumping on the bandwagon – make that truck – with food trucks instead of caterers. Food trucks are great for outdoor weddings and are also fun for rehearsal dinners and day-after parties.

1. Hold A Sign, Wave A Flag

Signs and flags with fun or romantic messages for the happy couple are fun for everyone. They show up great in photos and videos, are a great replacement for throwing rice or birdseed and give the kids – both small and large – something to do. Some couples even let the ring bearers and flower girls wave flags as they walk down the aisle.
