Tomato Sauce Recipe
Put the pot on medium heat and add the olive oil. Finely chop the Vidalia onion and garlic. First, add the onion and stir it every 30 seconds or so. Once the onion is translucent, add the garlic and put the heat on medium-high, constantly stirring the contents for one minute.
Add the crushed tomatoes and Italian seasoning to the pot. Stir. Then, finely chop the basil and parsley and add to the sauce. Add the red wine, pepper, and sugar. The sugar offsets the acidity of the tomatoes. Give the sauce a taste and add salt if needed.
To make this sauce extra hearty, add some homemade meatballs with a couple links of sausage. If you like a little heat, add a spicy sausage. Cover the pot and cook on a low heat for four or five hours, stirring occasionally.
You can add this sauce over any type of pasta as it is very versatile. Don’t spend all this time on making this special recipe just to serve it straight from the pot. Invest in a decorative ceramic serving dish and make this masterpiece presentable.
Everyone should take the time to learn how to cook tomato sauce – it’s simple and delicious. All you need are fresh, easy to find ingredients. Just incorporate them together properly and you and your guests will be coming back for seconds and even thirds!
