Do you scarf in different ways for a zillion accessory additions to your look

A scarf is a long, broad strip of material typically worn around the neck, shoulders or head. It is used to keep the wearer warm or for ornamentation. Scarves used to be boring, something your grandmother donned when she was gardening or when it was windy outside. They were functional items and not much more. No one with any fashion sense would be caught dead wearing this dreary looking item.

Things have changed dramatically. Scarves are now the top fashion accessory and can be worn in a multitude of ways. If you are a creative, inventive type, you will undoubtedly come up with your own unique way of styling this fashion accessory.

The popularity of wraps has risen tremendously in recent years with the advent of infinity scarves and the pashmina. These items are functional — they definitely keep the wearer cozy in cold weather — but their ornamental value supersedes that. There is no better way to spice up an ensemble than incorporating a scarf, wrap, stole, shawl, into your outfit.

How do you do your scarf different ways? Let’s count ’em …

One of the prettiest and most feminines ways to wear a scarf is in a half-bow, which requires a soft wrap that’s easy to work with. Put the item around your neck. One end should be longer than the other. Wrap the longer end over the shorter end. This results in a movable knot. Pull the longer end through the hole that resulted when you wrapped the longer end over the shorter end. This establishes a half-bow. The half-bow can be pulled to the side or worn in front on your chest.

Braid the item. Double the scarf and wrap it around your neck. Grab one end and thread it through the loop. Rotate the loop and thread through the other end.

To achieve a layered knot, put the item around your neck so the ends are hanging down in back, not in the front. Pull the ends around to the front. Loosen the part around the neck. The dangling ends are tied together.

There are those who have turned scarf-tying into an art form. The best way to learn how to do this is to watch an expert in action. You will be amazed at the various ways this wrap can be used.

An infinity scarf is a never ending loop; a circle. This item is crazy versatile. You can wear it in many ways including on your head, doubling as a snood, or in a wrapped turban fashion. Wear it as a shrug or shoulder covering by pulling it down over your shoulders. Wear it asymmetrically around your hips or drop it over your head and let it fall where it many, resulting in a cowl.

Pashmina

A pashmina is a woolen shawl, often cashmere, made from the underbelly of goat’s wool. These exquisite shawls are the perfect way to cover up when the evening gets chilly or to add accent and texture to an ensemble, regardless of the weather.

The shawl can be worn draped over your shoulder, hanging down in front, tied in a knot if you wish. or one end can be slung over a shoulder or both ends can be slung over the shoulders.

Other techniques include folding the pashmina in half width-wise and then length wise, creating a loop. Put the loop around your neck and pass the loose ends of the pashmina through the loop. Tighten it around your neck as much as you desire.

It’s time to start experimenting. If you haven’t already added these items to your wardrobe, do so now! You will get a lot of mileage out of these versatile and beautiful accessories.
