Fast and easy sandwich machine ideas

By Catalogs Editorial Staff

I love my sandwich machine. I can honestly say that it’s probably my favorite small appliance. It has a permanent spot on my countertop, unlike some of my other kitchen helpers that are gathering dust and taking up space in my cupboard.

It’s obviously great for making sandwiches, especially on warm summer days when the last thing you want to do is slave over a hot stove. It’s also great for late night snacks when you have no desire to wash dishes, by moonlight.

Since sandwich machines are non-stick, buttering the top and bottom side of any sandwich, is up to you. I’ve always done so because I prefer the more evenly toasted and flavorful sandwich, it tends to create. To give your sandwich a little extra kick, use mayo or Miracle Whip? instead of butter. It’s a tasty alternative.

Starting with sandwiches

My all-time favorite sandwich machine sandwich is albacore tuna, (mixed with mayo, a dab of honey mustard, pickle relish and chopped hard boiled eggs) topped with two different varieties of sliced cheese. As boring as this may seem to some, it is truly my sandwich nirvana.

Sandwich machine ideas are limited only by your imagination. Preparing sandwiches this way is an excellent way to get rid of leftovers. You’ll be surprised at all of the yummy combinations you can come up with, using a little bit of this and a dab of that!

Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls&Biscuits

Do you love the convenience of ready-to-bake cinnamon rolls and biscuits? You can actually bake them in a sandwich maker, in almost the same amount of time it takes to heat up your conventional oven.

Just pop open a tube and place two biscuits or rolls in each triangular compartment. (If you are using jumbo or ‘grand style’ biscuits, one per compartment works best.) Close the machine. Do not latch. Bake until golden brown, following suggested timetable on package.

When I bake cinnamon rolls this way, I always check on them a couple of minutes before the timer goes off. It’s best to err on the side of caution. There’s nothing worse than burnt cinnamon rolls. ~Corn Dog Triangles

Mix up your favorite corn bread recipe. (A box mix works, if you’re in a hurry.) Spoon the batter in buttered compartments, being careful not to overfill. Thinly slice your favorite brand of hot dogs, polish sausage or smoky links. Place several slices over batter. You can jazz these up a bit more by mixing shredded cheese and diced jalapenos, into the batter. Close the sandwich maker. Do not latch. Bake until golden brown and until toothpick inserted into center of each triangle comes out clean.

Omelets

If you can’t flip an omelet to save your life, have I got a suggestion for you! This is one of the best sandwich machine ideas I’ve ever run across. Do you live in a house full of picky eaters? Making omelets this way allows everyone to choose their favorite omelet ingredients and clean-up is a breeze.

Scramble eggs as you normally would and season to taste. Fill each WELL GREASED compartment about ? of the way full, with egg mixture. Top with traditional omelet ingredients? mushrooms, cheese, ham, sausage, onions, green peppers, bacon, etc. Spoon 2 tablespoons of egg mixture over the meat, cheese and vegetables.

Close the sandwich maker. Do not latch. Check every 2-3 minutes. Cook until completely set.Corn Dog Triangles
